Presented by: Dr. Joyce Jackson

Folklorist and Professor Joyce Jackson will share her research on sacred rituals from the African diaspora including one in north Louisiana that has been in practice continuously for more than 150 years. Jackson will show a short documentary she produced on the Easter Rock sacred ritual led by generations of women in Winnsboro, Louisiana. She will discuss how rituals were masked in order to transcend oppression and to survive over time.
